Oronde McClain and the McClain Foundation
If you live in or around Philadelphia you may have heard Oronde McClain’s story. At age 10 he was shot in the back of the head by a stray bullet and confined to a wheelchair. After surviving 22 suicide attempts he found a sense of purpose and worked hard to learn how to walk again and manage his PTSD. He has dedicated his life to advocating for those impacted by gun violence. His non-profit The Oronde McClain Foundation supports families in the aftermath of such tragedies. He is also a motivational speaker, mentor, and coach to help others go “from victim to victor!”

Harman Maddhar has overcome more challenges in twenty-some years than most people do in a lifetime. From being born as an unwanted child in India, to immigrating to Canada, at a young age, to surviving a violent car crash that rendered him a paraplegic, to navigating school and socialization as an outsider, to entering the already-rigorous music industry, Harman’s life stories take the reader on an empathetic journey towards self-acceptance, perseverance, and finding meaning in life.

The Life Treasures Foundation
This nonprofit recognized a huge gap in supply chains for PPE during the Covid-19 pandemic and quickly moved to fix it. They were able to deliver over 7000 masks to front line workers, and I was proud to help them share their story for their fundraising efforts.
